2004 Cup Championship winner Kurt Busch said that there is a 50-50 chance that he could retire at the end of the 2021 season.

Busch’s contract with Chip Ganassi Racing runs until the end of the 2021 season. As for the season beyond that, he doesn’t have any concrete plans as of now. Speaking to CBS Sports about the possibility of retiring after the end of the 2021 season, Busch said:

“I’ll give it 50-50. I’ve been at this game a long time. I’ve been out there 21 years and my wife is a great supporter of mine and she loves the racing but it’s been a bunch of years out on the road and out on the circuit and we’ll see what 2022 brings us when we get there.”

Busch is going strong in the 2020 Cup playoffs and has already booked his spot in the Round of 8 after a win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

After the race, Busch said that he has not talked about his future plans to his wife recently but plans to do so soon.
