Erik Jones is one of those free agents drivers for the 2021 season who is still on the lookout for a ride. With the likes of Hendrick Motorsports or Chip Ganassi Racing come to mind as possible destinations for the 24-y-o.
Jones opened up about the same issue in a recent interview, he stated:
“There is stuff going on, we have been in a lot of talks with different teams and trying to find an opportunity. It’s a tough environment. There’s definitely teams that are struggling to find sponsorship and to find money.”
Four Playoff drivers eliminated after Bristol Night Race
Erik Jones is the driver of the No. 20 Toyota ride for the JGR team. The 24-y-o driver won’t behind the wheel for the Joe Gibbs Racing group come 2021. The JGR team has decided to headed out in different directions with the driver.
“It’s challenging, but like I said there are big rides out there, and hopefully, I can get an opportunity with one of them and built a relationship with sponsors to go out and be a contender.”
“We’re moving along and hopefully within the next few weeks or month I hope we can announce something.”
Jones finished in the top three during Saturday night’s Bass Pro Shops Night Race 500 at the Bristol Motor Speedway.
