After winning the Cup playoff opener at Darlington Raceway, Kevin Harvick let a young fan keep the checkered flag.
Kevin Harvick was very fortunate to win the Southern 500 as Chase Elliott and Martin Truex Jr. battle for the lead to a collision with the wall for both the drivers ahead of Harvick.
The contact provided an opportunity for Harvick to win the race. After the race, Harvick presented his checkered flag to a young fan. A limited number of fans were allowed to attend the race.

The first thing that Harvick said after winning his race was thanking the fans.
“First thing I want to say is welcome back, fans. This interview is a hell of a lot more fun with you guys up there (in the stands). I just want to say thank you to everybody from NASCAR, all of you fans here in South Carolina.”
