Aric Almirola is set to stay with Stewart-Haas Racing driving the No. 10 Ford in the 2021 season as Smithfield Foods will renew its primary sponsorship with the team for next year.
Almirola is in the last year of his contract with SHR. However, Smithfield Chief Commercial Officer of Packaged Meats John Pauley told THE DAILY that the driver will continue behind the wheels of No. 10 Ford (via Sports Business Journal).
The report also revealed that the deal could “run close to, or into, the low eight figures”.
Recently, Stewart-Haas Racing’s vice president of competition Greg Zipadelli said that SHR plans to retain its 2020 drivers lineup for the 2021 season.
With the news that Aric Almirola is set to stay beyond the 2020 season, only Clint Bowyer remains in to be signed for next year. Speaking about the extension of the two drivers, Zipadelli suggested that “one is very close to done, and we’re working on the other one”. So, Bowyer, who expressed his desire to retire at SHR, might be in line for extension too.
