Jimmie Johnson will be replaced by Justin Allgaier for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

As Jimmie Johnson tested positive for COVID-19, he will be out of races indefinitely. For now, he will definitely miss Sunday’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, So, for the race, Hendrick Motorsports is replacing Johnson with Justin Allgaier behind the wheels of No. 48 Chevrolet.

This is the first time that the seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion will miss a race since 2002 Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway. The last race at Pocono Raceway was his 663rd start.

Allgaier drives for JR Motorsports, which is co-owned by Hendrick Motorsports team owner Rick Hendrick, in the Xfinity Series.

While Johnson was set to start the race in the fourth position, Allgaier will have to start the race at the end of the field.

Allgaier said that he wants to make Johnson and the team proud in a tweet.
