Chase Elliott defended Hendrick Motorsports chief crew member Alan Gustafson after supporters criticized him over Mark Martin’s twitter post.
Mark Martin retweeted the post of a user under the twitter handle Nascarpixtures tweet which stated the retired Xfinity driver’s achievement in 2009. The post stated:
Mark Martin had an amazing 2009 season with 5 wins, 14 top 5’s, 21 top 10’s, and average start of 9.8 and an average finish of 13.7.
Martin retweeted the post with a caption “Good times”. With lots of reply pouring in, some were in criticism of the chief crew Alan Gustafson. One of the users replied: “alan gusty is a g on the box. and you can see by Chase Elliot’s season thus far lol.”
It is safe to assume that the reply hinted the Coca Cola 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in which the decision from Gustafson to pit Elliott’s car cost him the race.
Replying in response to another criticism, Martin wrote:
“So how did he take a 50 year old driver and win 7 poles 5 races and run second in the points to Jimmie Johnson if he’s not that good? Explain that one to me. Alan Gustafson”
Martin referred to the 2009 Sprint Cup, in which he finished second to Jimmie Johnson.

Chase Elliott joined in to support his crew chief Alan Gustafson by replying to the thread. He wrote: “Or some private schooled spoiled ******** from north Georgia win 7 races in cup… takes a special guy to make that happen I promise. AG is the guy, trust me.”

I was a BiG Mark Martin fan and a lot of drivers don’t know how much they are loved …..my man was a die hard Bill Elliott fan so stands to reason Chase is now a household favorite …..
Wish the old and new drivers appreciated their fans but we are just a blank face to them…..

Chase and Alan are in tune with each other 100% just listen to them talking about adjustments and all on the car during the race it is amazing they will championships.
The comment on Alan Gusty being “G” is a compliment to AG not a dig. Its saying he is a gangster on the box thats why Chase is having a kick ass year.
