JTG-Daugherty Racing co-owner Brad Daugherty believes that the incident in which Kyle Larson used the racial slur set NASCAR back.

Larson was fired by Chip Ganassi Racing after the incident and NASCAR has suspended the driver indefinitely.

Daugherty, one of the prominent black team owner in NASCAR, said:

I’ve spoken to Kyle Larson a lot through the years. Very good race car driver. But I’m very disappointed, as many are … and he is paying a heavy price for it. …

It made it really tough because it set the sport back. A sport that has already struggled to try to pull itself up in diversification efforts. It set us back another decade, too. He seems to be very contrite and learned an incredible and very expensive lesson, if anything.

JTG-Daugherty Racing has Ricky Preece and Ricky Stenhouse Jr in the Cup Series.

Kyle Larson hoping to have another opportunity in NASCAR racing someday

    1. Which car does “Ricky Preece” drive in the cup series? I haven’t seen his name before – I know their is a Ryan Preece though.

  1. Get real!, Larson did not set back NASCAR a decade, the ever changing rules and regulations, not to mention the COT decision, have set back NASCAR. Just check out the rapidly declining attendance since about 2007

  2. If JTG played their cards right they could have signed Larson and had a great driver, they decided to step on their dicks instead. Have fun fixing Rickys torn up cars!
