Three key crew members from Denny Hamlin’s crew suspended for the upcoming 4 races following a mistake during Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600.
NASCAR has decided to suspend four of Denny Hamlin’s crew members for the falling off of a piece of tungsten during the pace lap at the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday. Hamlin had to pit after the 35-pound, $1,877 piece fell off his car and could only enter the race after eight laps. Hamlin, who has won the Daytona 500 and Toyota 500 in the 2020 series, finished 29th in the race.
For the mishap, crew chief Chris Gabehart, car chief Brandon Griffeth and engineer Scott Simmons are penalized with 4 race suspension. The upcoming four races that the crew members will miss include races at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway and Martinsville Speedway.
