NASCAR reveals penalties up to $50,000 for breaching COVID-19 guidelines

NASCAR has come up with a number of penalties for those who breach the sanctioning body’s COVID-19 event protocol guidelines.

NASCAR issues the information of the penalties through a rules bulletin after updating their rulebook which states fines for “failure to comply with NASCAR’s COVID-19 Event Protocol Guidelines and/or instructions from NASCAR including screenings, social distancing, compartmentalization, and use of required personal protective equipment, etc.”

Some of the rules include that people present in the field to wear a mask and maintain social distancing rules. The NASCAR Cup Series fine ranges from $10,000-$50,000, Xfinity Series between $5,000 – $25,000 and Truck series between $2,500 – $12,500. 

NASCAR Cup Series is scheduled to return on May 17 at Darlington Raceway.
