Father Dale Earnhardt Sr. once told his son Dale Jr. that computers were a total “waste of time”. Luckily, given where NASCAR is now, Dale Sr was wrong.
Only four races on the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season had been contested when racing was forced to bring the sport to an unexpected standstill as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. All the events through early May have been canceled, and none of them have been rescheduled to date.
Had this happened when Dale Sr was racing, things would be nothing like they are now. Fortunately, this is one of the few times that the Intimidator was wrong.
Here Are The Four Potential Schedules To Restart 2020 NASCAR Season
To keep fans entertained NASCAR and iRacing introduced the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series so the drivers can still compete against each other in a virtual gaming world.
The introduction of the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series has even allowed Dale Earnhardt Jr. to get back to competing on Sundays despite the fact that he retired after the 2017 season.
According to Dale Jr. his dad once gave him advice about racing online. which was “Computers are a waste of time”.
Heres what Dale Jr. told SportsCenter.
“When I was trying to buy my first computer, I wanted to race online. When Dad saw that, he was like, ‘Computers are a waste of time.’”
However we are now in 2020, and thanks to computers and the virtual gaming, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is back competing on Sundays against many of the active Cup Series drivers.
“Look at it now, I would probably be rubbing that in his face.”
