NASCAR driver Ryan Newman was hurried to the hospital after his car flipped and was rammed into during the final lap of Daytona 500 on Monday.

The accident occurred at the ending of a dramatic race that eventually saw Denny Hamlin winning for a second consecutive year. Hamlin celebrated the race until he learned about the danger of Newman’s injuries. Denny then apologized and explained that he hadn’t known what had happened.

Ryan Newman is now in serious condition, however according to Roush Fenway Racing, the injuries are not life-threatening.

I met you last year in August and took a picture with you when the wreaked happen I was worried and looked at your picture! I’m glad your ok and hope to see you back soon!
